Guide Spacing

The current guide spacing measurements that we provide are in line with the spacings that we use for factory-assembled rods here on Bainbridge Island, WA. We suggest that the tiptop guide be placed on the rod first and that the measurements be taken from the tiptop guide loop. The points marked on the rod will indicate the measurement at the bottom foot of the guide, which is most easily described as the tip of the foot closest to the butt of the rod. Please note that as a custom rod builder you, of course, have the ability to move the guides around as you choose. However, our R&D Department suggests that you keep the guide placement within a ¼ inch of the measurement that we provide in order to be consistent with the design and feel of factory-assembled Sage rods. Drastic changes to guide size and placement can affect the overall performance of the blank.
