Nobody Ever Caught a Fish in a Parking Lot

Ah, the fly shop parking lot. A sea of cars. Baking asphalt. Not a trout in sight. As you might suspect, it's a pretty lousy place to decide which fly rod is right for your particular angling needs. Sure, you'll find out which rod casts the farthest, and not surprisingly, Sage rods are usually right at the top of the list. But does that really tell you all you need to know?

Yes, casting distance is a factor. But more importantly, ask yourself these questions: How will the rod actually fish? Does it feel lively in your hand? Will it perform the kind of mends you need to make? Does the action match your natural casting rhythm? Can it make short casts as well as long ones? In other words, will its fishability match its performance on pavement?

At Sage, we make equipment for a wide range of fly fishing applications, casting styles and yes, bank accounts. We do not, however, make rods designed to fish parking lots. Where our rods really shine is where you find fish. So unless your fly shop is streamside, here's a solution: Ask your dealer about our demo program. Once you spend some time casting, mending and (if you're lucky) fighting fish with the right rod, we think your decision about what to buy will become much easier. When it all comes together on the water, you'll know.
